Palynology is the study of microscopic fossils and their modern counterparts that are made of organic material and resistant to acid processing treatments. Palynology is used in many integrated geological studies and in the oil and gas exploration and production industry. The journal Palynology, published since 1977, is the principal publication of the American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists (AASP) and is considered one of the best journals of its genre. It includes peer-reviewed articles, award citations, biographical sketches of authors, and abstracts from AASP annual meeting presentations.
The American Association of Stratigraphic Palynologists is a non-profit organization founded in 1967 to promote the science of palynology in academia and industry. Palynology is its flagship publication, but it also publishes a quarterly Newsletter, occasional books, and the AASP Contributions Series for longer works.
