PsycInfo from EBSCO
Dear EBSCO Customer,
We are pleased to announce the completion of the 2005 reload of PsycINFO from the
American Psychology Association (APA), which is now available via EBSCOhost.
In addition to a fully updated set of records, the 2005 reload includes some brand new,
key features (described below), as well as new/revised search fields, limiters and index
browse values, all designed to make researching easier and more comprehensive for
PsycINFO customers.
New features:
* Source Type Searching - After conducting a search, users will see
one or more of six different publication types (All Journals, Peer
Reviewed Journals, Books, Encyclopedias, Dissertation Abstracts or
Electronic Collections), represented by links along the top of the
Result List. By clicking on any of these links, users can focus
the Result List to include only those results that correspond with
the selected publication type.
New/revised search fields:
* A new Publication Type field assigns one or more of the following
broad-based categories to each record: Journal, Book, Dissertation
Abstract, Electronic Collection or Encyclopedia. More specific
terms such as Abstract Collection, Bibliography, Editorial,
Letter, Obituary and Review are examples of values for the newly
revised Document Type field. Another brand new field, Methodology,
allows users to search for individual research study categories
such as Clinical Case Study, Field Study, or Literature Review.
All of these fields appear as limiters with drop-down lists on the
Advanced Search screen, as well as in Index Browsing.
Note: The APA has taken steps to ensure that all new fields and terms from the updated
thesaurus are compatible and fully interactive with older as well as new PsycINFO records.
