Two new Turning the Pages volumes
Jane Austen's History of England
Fans of Jane Austen can now explore the entire 32-page handwritten volume of the
History of England at our Virtual Library. Written in 1791, when she was just 15 years
old, the satirical work draws on sources such as Shakespeare's history plays and
includes illustrations by Jane's eldest sister, Cassandra.
With an accompanying full-text transcription and audio reading of each passage, you
can really appreciate this early work from one of Britain's greatest novelists.

The Golf Book
The Golf Book, a masterpiece of Renaissance illumination, has also been added to
the collection. A Book of Hours, produced around the early 1540s by Flemish artist
Simon Bening, the book's name comes from one of its illustrations, which is believed to
be among the earliest depictions of people playing golf.

To enjoy some of our finest treasures in more detail than you would have thought
possible, visit our Turning the Pages Virtual Library.

Turning the Pages: Award Winner
Yahoo! and International Information Industry Awards

Clive Izard and Adrian Arthur receive the International Information Industry award from
Lloyd Grossman Following the success of the Museums Association Exhibition in
September where Turning the Pages was awarded Best Exhibition Stand in the
medium and large stand category, it has just won several more prestigious awards.

At the International Information Industry Awards held in December, it won the Best
User Experience category, against impressive competition such as Google and
Nature. The awards formed part of the annual Online Information exhibition, at which
Turning the Pages exhibited.

Turning the Pages has also just won the Innovative category of the 2004 Yahoo! UK
& Ireland Top 10 Finds of the Year competition. It joined nine other category winners in
a public vote to find the People's Choice winner, where the British Library came
second overall.
